MasterWriter (link): MasterWriter comes in two versions: one for creative writers and one for songwriters. This video demos the former. Oscar winners like Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump) and authors such as William Peter Blatty (The Exorcist) have endorsed it. Watching the demo, the software seems horribly dated and easily replaced by free Internet websites. I’ve never used it, so please don’t take my word for it. Just know that at $199, purchasing the software doesn’t come cheap.

End of Watch (IMDb link): This independent film written and directed by David Ayer (the same guy who wrote Training Day) is one of the best cop movies I’ve ever seen. Even Roger Ebert gave it four out of four stars. It’s on Netflix Instant now if you want to check out a gritty drama filled with excellent character development. A warning, however, that it is a very (very) intense film.
